September 28th 2018 Show

*limps in*

Well! Some people just can’t get it together when their other half is away. By some I mean me.

I rocked up to the show last night and staggered backstage to the dressing rooms. Passing dancers who were scurrying around, prepping for the show in an hour, I was just too threadbare to even say hi. Worn right out. I got to my dressing table and frowned as I perused it. I clamped my lips together, eyes scrutinising the surface. I opened a drawer, shuffled things around, then another. I then stomped over to Jilley’s dressing table. Sure enough, she had stolen my fire engine red lipstick AGAIN! I started poking through her dressing table and found some other things of mine including my eyelash curler, body glimmer cream, and my tube of…

…maybe that’s TMI.

Moving on.

I snorted as I saw her walking backstage, her long, tall form making elegant, graceful strides as she approached me. “Do you have a pair of tweezers I can borrow?” I smirked. “Oh you are asking to borrow something from me? Now that’s unusual.” I handed her my pair of tweezers. I watched her step over to the mirror of her dressing table and pluck a few stray eyebrow hairs. I didn’t bother to tell her the last time I used those tweezers was to pluck the hairs out of Gunner’s ears.

But knowing this amused me greatly. I smiled to myself.

Then I pondered, why do they call them a pair of tweezers when there is only one? Maybe each arm is a tweezer. But seems there should still be a name that encompasses the entire object, a singular name for a single object.

The things I ponder. A-Typical? I have been watching that show and totally ‘get’ and relate to the lead character. Could I be on the spectrum? That would sure explain a lot.

Anyways.

I have decided to start sharing the Post of the Night. Elysiums say some funny things in group chat during the show, and they are well-worth preserving and sharing. Tonight, it was a tie! I don’t have to choose between them cause this is my SL and I can do what I want, and I want to share both of them. So here comes this treasure from Elayn:

[19:24] Elayn: I think Wiz did that one a few times
[19:25] Elayn: and he does it so well, do you really want to try to top him?
[19:25] Elayn: oh.. that sounded wrong..
[19:25] Elayn: /mumbles.. sorry Wiz

Congratulation, Elayn, for getting Post of the Night, you have won a pair of Elysium Golden Tweezers! Use them wisely and share sparingly. Consider where they might go.

The other person to win a pair of Elysium Golden Tweezers (by pair, I mean two connected arms… it is just one tweezer) is NARA for this gem:

[19:21] nara1: men should wear heels … make their legs more shapely.

OMG I so agree! How darling would that be! Let’s have High Heel Night for the guys!

Well, enough of this silliness. On to the show… The Man was working, so Eva graciously covered the DJing for him, with Paul and Jilley welcoming our friends and family, and The Wiz lashing all the dancers into place with his feather duster. And the show looked something like this:

My Prerogative, Britney Spears

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I always loved the original “My Prerogative” by Bobby Brown. When I heard the female spin on it, I could not resist making it into an act.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The hard part was getting the fades timed just right, also when i went to move the set from the build pad to the theater I had issues with some things appearing in the wrong spots. More technical than creative challenges this time but in all, everything came out as it should.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Pure fun dosed with a little inner message, people should worry less about others and spend more time enjoying their own lives, sl or rl.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
No, but I would like to thank my dancers tonight for being there to make it all happen.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
No, this one was easy-peasy.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This is just a good time with some lovely ladies 🙂

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I love the colors of this set. Web built it, and it is refreshing and relaxing, a place I wish I could go in RL. So we went there in SL. I love the fruit hats, I need one in RL.

I had three requests this months; A fall set, A DanceQueens challenge to use a particular texture in a set, and to do a Cover Song. Ta-Da!

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The challenges were fun to resolve on this one, the special effects.. not too much, just enough… the COLORS! it was hard to decide but fun.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam is all about deeper meaning.. but the deeper meaning is what does it mean to YOU?

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Breathe.. enjoy.. be kind to each other.

September 21st 2018 Show

I know what you are thinking. The same thing everyone is thinking. Where is the blog post with pics from last Friday’s show? It is almost next Friday’s show. Well, I can explain.

The Man is a contractor and just got a big huge job and it has turned our RL into a bit of a whirlwind. I am suddenly left alone to manage things on the home front that The Man usually tends, plus run all the errands and do a bajillion little things that he usually does that I never noticed until he was not here doing them anymore. I’m exhausted. I need a maid, cook, personal shopper and a houseboy to rub my bunions at the end of the day. And without The Man feeding me, I am at risk of being able to see my toes again because I don’t like handling raw food and won’t eat unless he puts it in front of me. He likes to cook and trash the kitchen. I find doing dishes to be soothing. It works for us.

Well, one thing I have decided. I know we all have probing questions that cannot be answered in our world. But we plan on getting some answers when we die, for those of us who believe in a next-phase of existence and a Higher Power of some sort. For myself, when I get to Heaven, one of the questions I am going to ask the Lord is, WHERE did all my husband’s socks REALLY go? I get that with kids, we buy them six pair of socks and two months later, they have twelve socks with no mates. But The Man’s socks just… vanish. He seems to think I am doing something with them. I can’t imagine what one would do with dirty socks. Can you think of anything? If so, post it in the comments section. Let’s see if we can come up with 101 uses for dirty socks.

I think that some day, we are going to move the mattress and find five thousand socks crammed in nooks and crannies in, under and around the bed. But really, I am not sure socks should be taking up this much of my head space. Or this blog. I am undecided where socks fall in the order of life’s priorities. However, when a man has twelve pair of socks, and twelve days later has only one sock to show for it, and this has been happening for years, I consider it cause for alarm. Maybe the socks just disintegrate after being worn. I don’t know why they would do that, his feet don’t smell.

But he does have these really thick, killer toe nails that require wire cutters to trim. They are almost hooves. Each toe is tipped with a tiny hoof. I consider my man proof that we do not descend from apes, we descend from goats. Or at least men do. Millions of years ago, big giant goats wandered the earth, then one day, one of them stood up. And that was the First Man. You ever notice goats have beards? Well, so do men, unless they shave. There’s your proof.

As for men descending from horses, don’t EVEN go there. Just don’t. You so do NOT want to get me started on the proof that men do NOT descend from horses. Plus look at the hooves themselves. Goat hooves have toes. Men have toes. Not just one big hoof or foot.

Maybe his toe nails are eating his socks. But that doesn’t make sense, I have never heard of hooves having to be fed. This is so bewildering. Such a mystery. The Lord knows the truth, so I will just have to be patient in this life and wait for the next one to find out once and for all WHERE The Man’s socks really went!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh… domestic bliss. *smiles weakly*

Meanwhile, consider this tattoo. I think everyone should have their S.O.’s name tattooed on their ass. Wouldn’t you agree?

Oh, and the show! Yes yes let us see some pics of the show! And perhaps a behind the scenes peek at a favourite dance with the wee interviews:

Christina Aguilera Featuring Nicki Minaj – Woohoo

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I love Christina Aguilera and Nicki Minaj and I really liked the song. The ideas started to flow after listening to it so I started to build!

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I had a few with this one, originally it was built for another stage so I have had to adjust it a little since. Also it was the first time I had made something rise up from under the stage so it was all a learning curve.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This was purely fun and dancing around all that candy just made me hungry!

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
The music itself.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Layering, this is the 1st time I have ever done layering of animations. Turned out it wasn’t as scary as I thought. =)

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Although the words seem kind of sad, I find it hauntingly beautiful.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Very few of us see a song in the same way. I hope that people can find a way to see my visions through my dance and that it brings some joy.

Beg For Mercy

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I actually found the song, then put it with the set, it’s the actual battle between all the houses in game of thrones. It just seemed to fit.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Getting up the stairs and in the throne without sliding. Getting the right placement for the dragons, and placing the blue and red flames in the dragons, all those that have watch Game of Thrones know the significance.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It was for a dance queens showcase I did representing E, and it challenged me a bit with my creativity.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I hope it’s an inspiration for you to watch Game of thrones you have plenty of time to catch up. Oh and Pea’s booty looks good even as Tyrion, and it was debated if we were going to give Jilley roo a sword or not, but she promised to play nice so we gave her one…I hope Melvis doesn’t get poked with Needle.,..Hailie an I did fight over the throne but you see who is the rightful king…runs before she the mother of dragons has them burn my ass…but really it was just fun to bring a show I enjoy to the stage.

September 14th 2018 Show

I was on my way to the toilet. A trip to the loo can be so dangerous. I was dressed in my usual house attire, glittery golden g-string and heart-shaped golden glitter pasties, don’t all us geriatric divas dress like that when sitting around the house? I did have on a little sheer golden lace mini-robe in case guests called in unannounced. I wanted to be decent after all. We live in the back of our computer shop. What if a customer calls in? Good thing I had on my pink beehive and tiara. Wouldn’t want the public seeing me and getting the wrong impression.

Now you prolly think I was wearing my gold glitter stiletto pumps, but you’d be wrong. As I said, I was in house attire. I hadn’t even accessorized. So I was naturally dressed down wearing far more comfortable house slippers. Really old ones that were broke in just right. And I was on my way to the loo when the tip of my right slipper caught on a slightly raised nail in the strip of metal at the edge of the linoleum. That nail bit down on my slipper and held it as I continued forward, finding myself suddenly launched into the air.

I flew fifteen feet across the kitchen. During my flight, I neglected to keep my seat belt on. I kept getting up and wandering listlessly around the cabin, nagging the flight attendants for snacks and Baileys on the rocks, and rudely peering into the First Class section to annoy those who worked for places that could afford to pay an outrageous sum of money for seats that are actually a bit larger than body bags crammed into a sardine tin. I liked to look at people who paid too much for things. Wasteful spenders always made me feel better about my self-control and the ability I had developed to get by on very little.

I admit I felt superior to them. They wouldn’t last two weeks in a zombie apocalypse. They were so weak. I was strong. I could handle flying in coach. Even for 12-plus hours across the Pacific ocean to visit my family in America. The shitty little meals, the lap trays that would not go flat cause they had to push against my big fat tummy and my big fat tummy always won, no leg room, arms pressed against the person sitting next to me much to their discomfort, seats that recline all of six inches… after surviving a flight in coach, I could take anything. I was a survivor.

So it was I found myself in flight across my kitchen. I was irritated that none of the flight attendants had given the opening safety precaution demonstration. That is always one of my favourite parts of any flight because it means that, after spending an hour finding a place to park, an hour hiking to check-in, waiting in that line for three hours, then another hour trek to the gate, another two-hour wait to board the fucking plane, another hour sitting while they load all the passengers and wait for a runway to become available… we were FINALLY going to be taking off! Those safety demonstrations are an oasis of hope in a desert of endless waiting.

At least I was blessed with a smooth flight. No turbulence. We did pass a flock of geese heading for Canada. And a guy in a lawn chair that had huge weather balloons attached to it, but that is another story. We finally came in for the landing, and that is when trouble started. The landing gear had not lowered. This was going to get ugly. I braced for impact.

I landed hard, on my chin, chest, and left knee. Somehow, my right calf had never taken off and was back at the launch position. It was yanked forward by the jolt of my crash into the far side of the kitchen floor. I screamed like a little girl on a roller coaster. I waited for rescuers to come to my aid. Took them forever. I laid there moaning like a beached whale. I wondered how many bones I’d broken. About a half hour later, I finally dragged myself to my feet and limped off for the toilet. I remember feeling impressed that I could hold it for that long at my age.

Thank the fates for Auntie Joyce’s walker. She had passed on two decades prior but her walker was left in the house, and so now it sure came in handy. It would be the only way I could make it to the loo for the next week. I could not understand why my ass cheeks hurt so bad. Over the coming days, everything below my head would hurt. A lot. But I would be disgusted to find not one bruise to show off my epic journey. No broken bones. Just many pulled muscles. I felt like human taffy.

Miraculously, I healed enough to be able to dance in tonight’s show. Day Five since my crash. I limped in and took my place backstage as DJ Gunner was warming up the crowd and The Wiz was patrolling backstage with his riding crop, lashing all the dancers into place. I could hear Paul and Jilley welcoming the gathering crowd. I knew from rehearsal it was going to be a fabulous show. I bit down on a strip of leather and prepared to dance in spite of the pain still lingering in my right calf. All I could think was, WELCOME TO THE WEEKEND!

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I have always been a huge fan of musicals and when I heard this version, I knew I had to do it.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Making the distances just right so there were no collisions, your typical 1-3 meter distance worked great for some dances, but the guys tap dances were a particular challenge so they didn’t hit us ladies.

September 7th 2018

This is what SHOULD have happened. Had I been King, this is what WOULD have happened.

I knelt in a line with my friends and family, in the humid darkness of the summer night. I was grateful for the cushion of humus under knees, the earthen smell of the forest floor somehow comforting. Like my companions, I kept my back straight and head high, eyes front, arms down to sides and palms flat against my thighs. We dared not waver, we dared not look away, we barely exhaled.

There were twelve of us all up, eleven plus me. We had been hiking through the woods on our way to Copperhead Road for an Elysium show at The Empire Room when we had been cornered by this asshole and his loser followers. Now they had us lined up, in the glaring headlights of trucks and cars, as they held guns on us. They had surrounded us alright, rounded us up like sheep.

The leader was a tall, skinny ugly dude with dark hair and a trimmed beard. His name was Negan. And they called themselves the Saviours. But they were no saviours of anyone other than themselves. They were apocalyptic parasites who went around taking from others, murdering, abusing people, and making their neighbours into their slaves.

Negan was doing the big production, which means he was running his mouth, pulling up his skirts and flashing everyone his panties, showing off and relishing being the center of attention. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes as he displayed Lucielle, his baseball bat that was wrapped with barbed wire. The name is actually spelled Lucille but I am deliberately spelling it wrong to show disrespect. Blah blah blah. Man, that dude could talk a blue streak and never say a damn thing! It was so hard to not yawn at his promenading as he strutted around like a turkey cock, fanning his audience with his tail feathers.

This was all a production to pick one of us to kill. JUST PICK SOMEONE ALREADY, YOU IDIOT!! I’LL PICK SOMEONE FFS! PICK ME PICK ME, anything so I didn’t have to listen to anymore of his rhetoric! Getting your head bashed in by a baseball bat was not near the torture of listening to that windbag pontificate on and on and on, and bore us with his juvenile jokes like, “Pissin’ your pants yet?” WOW. Such eloquence, such intellect! I knew I was in deep doo-doo, going up against so formidable a linguistic champion. Yes, ‘doodoo,’ a word on his level.

Then he started doing this eeny meeny miny moe thing, pointing Lucielle from person to person, to assist him in the daunting task of picking a victim. Good gawd what grade were we in? When he FINALLY said, “IT” he was pointing the bat at me. “Anybody moves, anybody says anything, cut the boy’s other eye out and feed it to his father, and THEN we’ll get started.”

I gazed intently up at him, locking mesmerizing blue-gray eyes with his drab ones. For one moment, the world stood still. Hearts did not even beat. A wormhole of silence engulfed my senses. And then I leapt up into the air, giving him one powerful kick to the solar plexes… wait, solar plexus (I looked it up), immediately following this up with a second swift kick in the guts, knocking the wind out of him and doubling him over. Like lightening, I moved behind him, grabbing his neck in a head lock and giving it a twist, then fixing my thumb and finger around his windpipe with one hand while I twisted his arm behind his back a la Bruce Lee with the other. I backed up towards a Winnebago that was parked behind us, dragging him along, wild eyes casting around at the faces of shocked onlookers, my own people stunned, his people the same. Should they shoot? Should they just stand there like sacks of meat and wait to see what happens next?

“I’ll break his neck, I’ll rip his windpipe out,” I screamed as I backed up to the door of the mobile home. “You better just freeze!” Reaching around, I quickly opened the door and dragged my gagging, gasping prey into the vehicle, pulling him out of the line of sight.

I released his windpipe, then grabbed his right arm and twisted it hard until he cried out in agony, then I twisted it a whole lot harder, until I heard a satisfying snap. He dropped Lucielle and I kicked her aside, then slammed him down onto the sofa that ran along a side row of windows. I swooped up Lucielle and gave him a bash in the noggin just to guarantee he was incapacitated. Then I pulled out one of the guns my crew had stashed under one of the seats. I stepped to a window, cracking it and yelled out, poking my gun through it.

“Okay! I got your idiot features Negan in here! You want him back alive? Then you best PISS OFF! LEAVE NOW! MOVE OUT! You let my people go and get in your cars and trucks and GO HOME. Once my people are safe and you are GONE I will release this illiterate aggregate of human filth. THAT’S THE DEAL! Ball’s in my court, take it or leave it!”

I peered out, saw some hesitation, so I fired my gun into the air. “Next one’s going through his left leg. Then his right, then one for each arm… you sure you want to do this? Let my people go!! NOW!”

I watched in the dimly lit darkness of the moonless night as my people suddenly jumped up and ran for the Winnebago. I saw Negan’s ignorant bewildered disciples turn and run for their cars. Except for Simon, Negan’s second. He seemed undecided. He prolly wanted me to kill Negan so he could take over. Oh yes sure they all planned to be back. They would never stop. I knew this. So, once my people were safe inside the vehicle, pulling out their weapons and firing up that engine to get us out of here and to the show, I went ahead and shot Simon. In the head. Clean shot, done deal, threat removed.

And then I shot Negan and tossed his stinking carcass out onto the road as we sped away. So I would never again have to hear one of his self-absorbed nauseating speeches!

Without their leadership, those losers would fall apart. And Glenn was safe. So was Abraham. We were all quite happy with the outcome of that wretched encounter. And looking forward to the bubbly and hors d’oeuvres that Paul and Jilley would be offering guests at The Empire Room, listening to DJ Gunner’s fabulous tunes, and watching The Wiz buzzing around, making sure everything was ready stage one. We cruised down the road with much relief. Glenn looked over at me, smiled and said, “Welcome to the Weekend!”

For some reason I have been on a Chicago, Peter Cetera listening spree. I had actually never heard this song before and I found it on YouTube and I love Chaka Khan anyway so I thought Why not, kinda stretch my boundaries a little more and see what I can do.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I have never choreo’d a duet dance before so I was kind of intrigued with doing one.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
To me it is fun and a chance to dance with Hunter.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I am still on a Peter Cetera kick, you might see more.

Paradise – George Ezra

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
The song it self was my inspiration. I had a set built and and just could not find a song until i heard this one . The dance just flowed from there.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
There really were no challenges in this dance.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This dance was just a bit of fun. I saw the dance in my head and it turned out just like i thought. a bit of end of summer fun.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
It is just nice to be dancing again. I have not been able to do any choreography for about 4 months due to RL work. So I wanted something fun to come and dance to back on the Elysium Stage.

Sarah
War (Epic Trailer Version)

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
WAR, the song itself is old but masterfully remastered into this epic, the routine more shows that war is bad, but in war there is that 1 fact……hope…..

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Animations were brutal on this one and I never quite got it 100% fluid but close enough to do as I have.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Dance has the meaning that wars don’t solve humanity’s issues….

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Just have fun with it an enjoy it as it came together

Stevie Wonder – Superstition (C2C Remix)

The dance was originally created for Friday 13th.
What was your inspiration?
The song title itself was my inspiration, superstitions. What could be better for a Friday 13th.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Finding all the little “superstitions” to deco the set with was I think the biggest challenge but so much fun.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This dance is just a bit of fun. Loved putting it together.

August 31st 2018 Show

I sat at the top of the massive hill overlooking the vast expanse of desert stretching out to kiss the horizon in every direction. To the west were the great limestone canyons, gray and white with fossilised coral formations, the ground resembling snow due to a heavy layer of alkali powder from the days when this region was covered with salt water. To the east were the dunes, mile after mile of sandy beige ripples disturbed only by the occasional mighty dust devil.

I was heading north, into the red rock canyon, a layered formation born of younger rock, iron-rich sandstone pitted with great holes and seated on petrified mudslides and pools of crimson sand. Not much in the way of plant life since water had dried up years ago and the wind had blown away any clay so the ground would not absorb water even if it did rain. But the rock sculpture was certainly a testimony to the creative license of nature, a tribute to heat and pressure, time, and the natural elements of wind and rain. What a celebration of non-organic life!

But I was not supposed to be impressed. In the roar of an engine, I had lost everything. Thus I was doomed to be a loner, stoic and taking no joy in anything ever again other than my car.

I eased off the clutch and pressed the pedal to the metal of the Magnum Opus, her powerful V8 engine roaring as I laid wide tires into the sand, almost vaulting down the hill into the arms of the desert valley, leaving a cloud of dust in my wake. I heard Chumbucket yell out, “We’re airborne! My Angel has spread her wings!” He was my black finger, my mechanic, who rode with me everywhere I went and kept the Magnum Opus’s motor running. My car was a legend. She had a 1973 Ford XB Falcon body called the Wild Hunt. She was fully armored with border spikes, spiked rims on the tires, ramming grill, quad nitro boost, side burners… plus built in sniper rifle, harpoon and thunderpoon. She was a mobile arsenal. In the great wastelands, I was a force to be feared and revered.

Oh I made a rhyme!

Chum rode in the back of our angel. It was like a Ute. For Americans, think of an El Camino. It was like that. Only armored and with roller bars and stuff. And it was steel in colour but looked silver in the sunlight, with chrome decals that changed hue in changing light. It was fierce.

We were blazing across the valley when I heard Chum call out, “Here they come, the roadkill scum!” Ouu, Chum made a rhyme! Damn, I wasn’t in the mood to deal with those roadkill idiots. I was on one of those long journeys inside my head and couldn’t be bothered with shaking them off. But I was well enough to drive. I did attempt to outrun them, a shot of nitrous blasting the Magnum Opus forward across a ravine. But my trail of dust betrayed my position and they stayed on me. Three scrapalapa armored cars. “Chum, thunderpoon,” I yelled. He was on it, holstering the big launcher onto a shoulder as I hit the breaks, slowing down enough to allow one of the cars to get along side me, and then BOOM! The car exploded into a billion shards of metal, which meant more scrap for me. “PRAISE BE,” Chum cried, “We win again!” Woot!

The second car was banging into my bumper. I served left then gave my engine a big swig of nitrous and burst forward a good ways, spinning around in a burnout of sand, grit and smoke. “Harpoon,” I yelled. I stepped on it, bolting forward straight at the second car, then swerved to the right as Chum locked the harpoon’s scope onto the front left tire of the enemy and BANG with the pull of a trigger, a harpoon shot out and latched on. The click of a button and the tire was ripped right off, rendering the vehicle uncontrollable. Chum and I pointed and laughed as we watched the second car swagger to a stop. The drive hopped out of his car. I did a 180 and headed back for him.

I popped out of my car and ran up to the driver, not waiting for him to throw the first punch. I socked him in the jaw then decided I didn’t have all day to stand around duking it out with this wastelander infidel, so I pulled out my shotgun and blasted him into eternity. And here came the third car.

The driver stopped the car, jumping out and I could see he was wanting a proper fist fight. Did I mention I couldn’t be bothered? So I hopped into his car, hit the gas, and ran him over. Easy peasy!

“Victory is ours” Chum cried triumphantly.

I settled back behind the wheel of the Magnum Opus. Chum said, “I don’t mean to question your saintly methods, but the Angel requires we continue with our holy mission.”

I revved her engine. “Aye, Chum, we must. The show is starting soon! We can’t be late or the sim will fill.” I pointed us in the direction of Copperhead Road, and we spun out for The Empire Room to enjoy another great show from Elysium Cabaret. Paul would be waiting to greet us, DJ Gunner would be spinning tunes warming up the crowd, and Wiz would be patrolling the dressing rooms making sure all the dancers and choreographers were ready. “Just think, Chum, pretty soon we will be drinking champagne and eating cracked crab… a far cry from water and Dinki Di dog food! But you know, Jilley’s probably going to make us take showers and put on clean clothes before she lets us in.”

I hit the nitrous one more time to give us a jump since we were running a bit late by now. Chum pounded the roof of the car. He cried out with excitement, “Welcome to the weekend!”

Cirque Du Soleil – Alegria

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I honestly didn’t remember signing up for the foreign language songs theme – but here I am! Alegria, a song from Cirque, has always been the essence of my dance imagination. A little bit of magic, a little bit if quirkiness, a little bit of excitement the unexpected, and a whole lot of fun!

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The costumes kicked in my OCD! They had to be “just right” with that cirque yet sexy feel. I now own 20 different pairs of tights, leggings, underwear, and shoes…and my linden bank account is much lower…

3. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Sometimes you have to step away from the scissors and glitter!

Truly, I couldn’t do this without those who dance with me. Their preparation, patience, keeping spirits up, and keeping me calm and smiling. They are as much of this as I am.

Non siamo soli – Eros Ramazotti with Ricky Martin

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
Everyone knows I never do theme shows. But when I heard Foreign Language songs I knew exactly the song I wanted to do for this. I studied Italian for many years and went to language school in Italy three times and there I discovered Eros Ramazzotti. This song, Non Siamo Soli is just so full of life and exuberance. To me it’s like an Italian Dancing in the Streets!

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Italians! Soccer!!! I wanted so badly to have the guys do a “soccer playing dance” but all the poses were static and looked crazy when I put them into a sequence so I ended up with just a hint of soccer in the opening poses. Perhaps someone more clever than me will do it one day.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Both. It is such a fun song but the lyrics are meaningful as Eros with Ricky Martin sings about how we are all connected by our humanity and are searching for the same things in life. We have the same wants and ideals, the same desire for freedom. We are not alone!

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.

Rammstein – Ich Will

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I love the energy of Rammstein, they are one of my all-time fave bands. I saw them in concert in Vegas… got knocked down in the mosh pit. They were amazing… powerful! Their music makes me hungry.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The first five seconds of the song were too quiet and were getting dropped when played through SAM. I had to edit that part and amp the first five seconds. Also, finding the right animations. I wanted the choreo to be ‘ugly’ so to speak… to look rather painful. Juxtaposed with a beautiful costume. Painful beauty. Beautiful pain. Twisted animations. Twisted beauty.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It is creepy fun! And good stress relief. It is how I had wild, kinky sex with this song.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
It is the temptation of Sleeping Beauty, touch the spindle! But really it is about all the things stressing me out, and me trying to resist the lure to simply sleep through everything. Sleep is such blessed escape. Far better escape than SL. I love to sleep. I have the most amazing, totally awesome dreams, detailed, full of colour and so active. Embrace the spindle. BE the spindle!
