Elysium’s Last Friday Show in 2018

Here we are, the last Elysium Cabaret Friday show of 2018! We are about to sail boldly into the New Year of 2019, looking forward to many fine adventures on the approaching horizon. Here is a tip to make 2019 special: pick something you have always wanted to do, something from your bucket wish list, plan it, and do it. You have all year so get started!

What will I do… I KNOW, I KNOW! I always wanted staff at home so I never have to clean or cook again… I can’t afford staff but I COULD take a year off from cleaning and cooking. That would suit! And now that my offspring has grown into an Adult Spawn, I could possibly get away with it.

Arriving at the show, well I was running a bit late but I noticed Paul greeting guests and then hustling backstage cause he was dancing tonight. I saw The Wiz walking the beat backstage. I didn’t see his feather duster anywhere. But I noticed what appeared to be a nightstick in his pants, so I am thinking his disciplinary tool has been updated. Perhaps he has found a new way to make us behave? I am looking forward to confirming this. Will let you know once I find out for sure. Being smacked with a nightstick could be very painful, depending on how hard it is and how hard one is hit with it. I mean, there is a difference between a tap and a thwack.

I headed backstage, pondering the mysteries of Wiz’s nightstick when I noticed sweet Corri sitting in her DJ chair, kicking out the tunes. She was looking extra sweet today. New hair? New eyes? What was it that was making her look so sweet. Check it out, I got some snaps of her at rehearsal and at the show:

DJ Corri at rehearsal. Do you all notice a glint in her eye? She looks incredibly sweet and innocent, but I do not think that mischievous glint is my imagination. Kind of reminds me of one of those beautiful porcelain dolls that you know is watching you.

Now let’s zoom in and take a closeup look at Corri’s eyes. Shall we?

Are you seeing this? Horns, pointed tail… she-devil! Tell me you all see it too, and it is not just one of my rez issues. I need to ask Ray about this and see if he has noticed this considering he lives with her in RL, he’d prolly know for sure.

On to our Golden Tweezers Award! Okay, it has to go to our Gracie for this cheeky bit of cuteness:

[18:58] GracefulLove: Night Dear, *hugs* thank you for letting me stalk you in 2018, I look forward to stalking you some more in 2019.

CONGRATULATIONS GRACIE!

Now let’s have a wee peek at the show. Be warned, Sarah is out of control. Just look at some of the group chat quotes (the ones in blue font). I think Wiz may need to discipline her! OH if he does, I am pulling the Owner card so that I can watch! *rubs hands together* If I can get pics, I will share 😀 Maybe he will use his new nightstick on her. That sounds a bit scary cause it looks really big. But could be exciting. I might finish up jealous! *makes note to self: find a way to get disciplined by Wiz*

Michael Jackson & Akon – Hold My Hand (Bergs Tropical Remix)

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I keep a list of songs that have captured my attention, just waiting for the right moment. Ever have a song that just fills you with good feelings, lifts you up? This is one of those for me. I’m an introvert, spend a lot of time in my head and don’t often ask for help. This song reminds me that it’s ok to reach out, to accept a helping hand. That we should all be there for each other, for support, a kind word, just be there. We aren’t alone, and we’re in this together.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I’ve been wanting to collaborate with Diamonte on a set, but I know I have control issues! Collaborating with someone is trusting them with your vision, being open to ideas and changes, making time to work with them, sharing the spotlight, and communicating the creative madness that’s in my head. Often, a dance performance is about what the choreographer created. This dance is about what *we* created. All of us – Diamonte, Misha, Gracie, Tristan, Victory, Nara. Hold My Hand is so very special to me because of what we’ve done together.

3. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Set created by Diamonte Thomas!

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
THE THEME was PEACE ON EARTH. The world needs a lot of peace we have gotten to involved with our own problems hating this and hating that not happy at all of who we are or where we are in this world. Sometimes we need to stop and think of what is really important to us !

2. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
The word PEACE itself means sl much and we need that more then anything!

3. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Just that we need to think not only of ourselves but others in this world and try to help each other to keep this precious thing called PEACE!

[17:23] SarahRho Huntress: i see kelly in the audience wonders if she will notice an anvil falling from the ceiling on her head

Babypea
The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I saw the movie “Up” long time ago but never noticed this song in it. Some time back, I was cruising YouTube and came across this song… and it just really moved me emotionally. It made me think about Web Sass, because I know how much she values home, meaning not a building but family. And I thought, “Someday I will do a dance for Web to this.” I downloaded it and saved it for a long time as the act formed in my mind, and then this “Peace on Earth” theme show came along, and I decided this was the right show for it. Because it makes me feel very at peace with life and with my past as well as the future, not just today. It speaks of dust and an old tree… it is full of metaphor.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I wanted the scene changes to be gentle and slow. I wanted walls/ceiling/floor leaving and returning, changed. I didn’t want everything the same, I wanted some changes to be with fades, some with movers. I had so many objects on movers and the set would not rez properly. Always at least one thing would not rez where I needed it to be, and shaking the box didn’t even help with some things, so I finished up having to pack some items in a second rez box. Prolly needed a third one, cause I still had some things not rezzing properly. It was extremely frustrating. Each scene had a different meaning.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It has very deep meaning. It is about life, memories, acceptance and hope as well as connection and living in a meaningful way.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
The set was built by Royal Shippe. I needed a prop I could not find in SL so I asked him to make it because I knew he could do it, he is brilliant and gifted and a demi-god. Well, he went on to build not only the prop, but all four sets for this act. I really appreciate it, he is such a generous soul. I also dedicated this dance to Web Sass cause she ‘gets’ the message, and it makes me think of her.

Party Started

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
1) get the party started I thought it was time to get the new year started right since it’s the last crowd dance of 2018, I wanted to take it out with a blast.
2) Family Affair (A very important song) if you listen to the words of this song I think it says enough, people forget, we are here to have fun and be a big family, sometimes people get focused on being a star or “THE ONE” and forget Dance is supposed to be fun and about entertaining bringing a vision to the stage to share with others, it should be about having a good time and no drama, helping each other…
3)Tongue POP Simply cause I love it, it’s a fun song, and really when words fail or are too much just give a good tongue pop and breath.

Family Affair

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I didn’t really have any on this I been planning it for a bout a month.

Tongue POP

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It’s a bit of fun bringing the new year in with the amazing audience we have each week and all the dancers. To me this dance was to create a family atmosphere of fun.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
It’s for fun, just let go an dance. I want to also wish every one a very happy new year. Remember you don’t have to make a resolution to make change in your life you are in control of your own change, so just be.

The Merry Show of December 21st 2018

[17:38] Sidwg: uh oh… Baby doing a festive Blog… whats she going to find in peoples drawers this week?

The party continues, here on this blog… the party from the show Friday night in The Empire Room at Copperhead Road… Elysium Cabaret!

I suppose by now the truth is out and everyone knows. All tongues are wagging about my fall from grace in that I have given birth out of wedlock to the demon son of that infernal Sock Monkey that possessed Stoke’s body. I would like to make it known, I did not have sexual relations with that sock monkey! It never happened. I have no idea how I came to be with child from it. All I know is, nine days after I bravely fought that sock monkey for Stoke’s biceps, I gave birth to a creature… some sort of Santa Baby creature. It had to be from an imimmaculate conception. Or anti-immaculate conception. Not sure what it would be called. Unimaculate? But I assure those of my admirers who are disappointed in me for having joined my person with that of a sock monkey, it never happened! I am innocent!! Dammit.

Damn gossips and their lies. Anyone who knows me knows that I have higher standards than to commit coitus with cashmere. So stop thinking I would ever stoop so low, be so desperate, so shamefully kinky as to partake in physical relations with a demented sock monkey. Now, I have to go back to work on my show review. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the Elysium people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that sock monkey, StokeMe. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the Elysium people. Thank you.

Once the inconceivable conception that I had conceived settled into my mind, I simply accepted my contrived condition and ate lots of donuts and pancakes so the abominable offspring would at least be healthy. I prayed he wouldn’t have his father’s lips. I found myself craving moonpies and was consumed with an obsessive need to roll wool into balls. By the time I went into labour, I was up to five balls a day. Oddly, the sight of knitting needles would trigger fits of nausea. Yet I found crocheting to be soothing and often would crochet by the fire to settle my tummy. It was one night when I was using the popcorn stitch to crochet an apron that the spirit of Richard Simmons appeared to me, and informed me that the child I was carrying would be a male and that I was to name him Little Stoke.

Right before I gave birth, I had to go to Copperhead Road to dance in a theme show that was based on a celebration of the five primary senses. In fact, the show was called The Senses. Being a special show, and on the weekend at Euro time, we had a lot of guest acts for this show. Andy was there to record The Senses. When I arrived, there was no room in the dressing room, so I had to set up a makeshift makeup table in the parking lot. It wasn’t exactly fancy, and the exhaust fumes were a bit overwhelming, but the natural lighting was good. And it was there that I went into labour, which oddly felt more like a terrible gas pain. I ran for the toilet and sat doubled over, moaning in agony for around twenty minutes, until Web gave me a peppermint ball, after which followed one huge emission, resulting in me passing Little Stoke out my arse. I was surprised by this, but accepted it as part of the bizarre experience I was having. Lucky thing for him, I had had an enema that morning. I remember feeling glad he would not have stretched out my girly bits. And, they were right, as soon as he was out, all the pain was gone!

I swaddled the newly-born demon spawn in toilet paper. I frowned as I scrutinised him. Ten fingers and ten toes, all the parts were there and where they belonged. But he had a full beard. WTF?!?! And something about his eyes, his face… he looked nothing like Stoke, neither sock monkey Stoke nor human Stoke. I tilted my head to one side, staring off into the distance as my mind combed through the events of the past nine days. Slowly my eyes widened and my jaw lowered as shock and horror spread through me. My face started to burn with a crimson sheen.

“OH MY GAWD” I cried out. “THIS ISN’T THE SOCK MONKEY’S BABY….” I clamped my lips tightly together, both sets, as I recalled in dismay that visit to Santa the week before last. He was so handsome, I do love a cuddly man! I am a bit of a chubby chaser in both lives. I love some meat on dem bones, and I don’t much care if it’s beef or pork… in fact I prefer a bit of both. And Santa was so… accommodating… when I was sitting on his lap. I was a Gorean kajira after all, I couldn’t help myself!!

But what about Richard Simmons, the balls of wool, the knitting needles?! That all had to mean something. Meh… I shrugged as I cuddled my newborn bundle of hope and joy. I couldn’t wait to show Web her new baby brother. I decided I needed rest so I reclined in the back of Paul’s limo in comfort and poured myself a bourbon. I settled Little Stoke into the seat alongside me. Above the limo shone a spotlight that highlighted Paul’s limousine. And then I saw the Three Stooges coming towards me, bearing gifts of marijuana, Cheetohs and Baileys. For the time being, I was content. Later, I slipped backstage into The Empire Room and was taken aback when I saw Jilley standing in her spot holding a bearded baby that looked a lot like Little Stoke. I arched a brow. So I guess she sat on the lap of the same Santa I had. Oh dear! Both Jilley and I were on Santa’s naughty list!

And then I was given an omen, that this offspring of mine was surely pure evil. JUST LOOK WHO teleported to the sim immediately after I slipped backstage:

That photo was not tampered with. Here is a closeup of the name of the being who entered the sim immediately after the birth of Little Stoke:

[17:39] Sidwg: Baby sees everything… well she thinks she does 😉

If that doesn’t tell ya something, perhaps THIS will! LOOK WHO appeared on the train at the Monarch’s Christmas show. I’m telling you, he’s stalking me. And I can’t prove it, but I am sure he had something to do with Little Stoke’s conception. Look at the smug little bastard with the self-satisfied grin. Look at what he’s wearing… that is proof he possessed Santa:

So I did the natural thing that one does when her Baby Daddy makes an appearance. I sat down and demanded child support:

And that is what happened. No sock monkey sex. Well at least not with me. Can’t speak for Jilley.

Which brings me to tonight’s show! It’s CHRISTMAS and Jilley got the place all prettied for the holiday. She and Paul greeted arriving guests with champagne and well-wishes as DJ Corri filled the air with warm festive music.

Backstage, Wiz in his Christmas cap was patrolling the standy thingies, making sure all the talent were ready to perform their Christmas-best. There WAS a little accident with one of the guests… it was a bit of a mess. He crashed his sleigh, reindeer got loose in the venue (turns out they are not housebroke) and gifts spilled all over the place, snow all over The Empire Room’s lovely carpet….

Jilley was aghast, screaming for Paul who called for Elayn to treat the jolly driver of the sleigh. Fortunately, he was well-padded so only had a few bumps and bruises that will heal quickly. I’d say he got lucky, and we were all lucky he didn’t take out any pedestrians in the process of crashing the show… quite literally:

I personally think it was Jilley’s cleavage that caused the wreck. What do you think? Look at her acting all innocent like, “Who… me?!?” Yes you! Poor Santa must have been so distracted, no wonder you are on his naughty list:

Well, enough of all that. Let’s have a look at the show!

But first, of course the Golden Tweezers Award presentation, which tonight is a ménage à trois! Our very first Golden Tweezer threesome! Let us congratulate the winners for the following appalling display of wicked innuendo and just plain bad manners:

[18:06] Elayn: I wonder what sort of conflicted state it would cause Baby if Si carried a Sock Monkey????? hmmmmm

The inspiration for my act this week was just holiday fun, I love the beat and the energy in this act.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The hardest part was getting Santa to fly and land correctly. And my snow would not fly straight no matter what I did with it…

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This is a great energetic Christmas song, I could not resist.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
The song moved me to tears the first time I heard it. It still does now but for a totally different reason. A fellow friend and dancer also danced to this song. I was in her set and she was in mine. This song reminds me of her and makes my cry every time I hear it.

2. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
I think she song is just so sad and so beautiful all at the same time. I just wanted to dance to it.

Candy Cane Lane by Sia

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
Always liked Sia and when I heard this particular song thought it may be fun to create an act to it.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Usually I do fade out of sets when changing to another. This time had the Candy Cane Lane rising up and getting us landing at the same time as the set was fully in place took a lot of timing. It was a new challenge but that is what creativity is all about. Also having the right animations, blending them. I am one that strives for no slides or ‘jerks’ wherever possible.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
No was purely fun and even better that Diawa was dancing with me.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Just that I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season. Peaceful, loving and totally happy.

Thank you.

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
Besides the cool song by thomas bergersen, its an inspirng song of beauty and harmony.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Timing was crucial to parts of the routine, tho lag is an unpredictable companion it could show on time as rehearsal or it could be seconds one way or another.

LOOK LOOK, I got a pick of the kick!
3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It means that life can be enjoyed its not all white or black or red, we can all strive to be more of the good things than that of negativity and obscurity.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Angels are a source of divinity, protectors, todo gods will in the divine realm. May you all have a blessed and wonderous festive season!

The December 14th 2018 Show!

Well… as you may have heard, it started raining here yesterday. And it kept on raining. After raining all night. It rained all day, torrential rain, not sweet delicate summer rain but angry fierce rain with thunder claps and lightening. The rain on the roof was so loud, I thought it might cave in. We have some spots in our roof that leak. Usually a pan here or there suffices. But there was no holding back this rain. It was so bad, it was actually raining in the house, in places. And I wore myself out trying to salvage pictures off the wall, things off the floor, trying to move power outlets and stuff to keep from getting fried.

We needed a row boat and a life jacket to get to the toilet. I donned my scuba mask and snorkel, and swam over to my computer, shutting everything down. And then I saw a dark lump alongside the wall to my left. Being OCD, I knew that lump was not supposed to be there. I squinted my eyes, leaning towards it, and realised it was a frog.

Okay so. Somehow a frog had got into my house. I went to catch it, before my dogs or cat saw it and ate it. And then I saw another one. And another one. I scooped them up, putting them into one of the buckets I had placed to catch drops from the ceiling. As I walked through the lounge, I saw more hopping across the carpet. More frogs! In my living room! I hurried to scoop them up before they could get away, trying use a hand to cover the top of the bucket enough to keep them from jumping out.

I rushed them out the back to release them into the garden. The garden? The plot of bendi-eyes and a myriad of other dry, dead weed remains. The ground back there is awful.. gravel. Not at all nice for growing things. There is a tree, however, and grape vines. Coming back into the kitchen, I found more frogs hopping around. It was a hoppity free for all. Never thought I’d be chasing frogs around my house, like some sort of ancient plague. I had to use the toilet at one point during my frog rescue adventure, so I washed my hands really well first with warm soapy water, as I was in fear… handling the toilet paper and all after handling frogs? I didn’t want to risk getting genital warts.

Oh don’t tell me frogs don’t give you warts. I was holding one when I was 11 years old and it peed on my hand, and where it peed, a wart came up days later. After that I had warts on me for a long time until I got rid of them all with Compound W.

Now, Gone Froggin says:
My mom always warned me that holding frogs and toads so spread warts on my hands and I’m sure you heard it before too. Good news, its not true. You can pick up other diseases from holding frogs and toads but not warts. Remember to always wash your hands after handling animals. Now what does cause warts? A type of Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes warts. So go hold all the frogs you want.
https://gonefroggin.com/2017/06/24/do-toads-and-frogs-cause-warts/

I DON’T BELIEVE THEM! Damn frog peed on my hand and I got a wart in that spot within the week!

Did you know that frogs drink through their butts? Frogs do not drink like we do; they absorb water directly through their skin in an area known as the ‘drinking patch’ located on their belly and the underside of their thighs. That means, if you are holding them and you have something funky on your skin, they can absorb it and it could kill them. So do a frog a favour. Make sure your hands are very clean and well-rinsed before handling them.

If only they were Cane toads invading my home, but we don’t have those in this area. I will confess if I had a cane toad, I’d not be able to resist a little lick. Or two. Honestly, I could see me now standing in the street, a cane toad in each hand, “SLURP!” As I lick one and then the other, taking a trip to visit Lucy in the sky.

NO NO NO it is DANGEROUS!!!! Do not lick toads!! Toad lickers die. And here is why:
Toad licking has long been recognized as a stupid, risky way to try to get high. But do you know the biochemistry that determines how stupid and risky it actually (is), and how high you could get. Let’s squeeze some toads.

The first problem with toad licking is that it isn’t just any toad that will get you high. The most famous culprit — one that has sent a lot of dogs on bad trips — is the cane toad. It and its general family, the family bufonidae, will secrete the stuff that can be sniffed, injected, or ingested to get people hallucinating.

The stuff itself is called 5-methoxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine. The chemical gets into the body and acts as a serotonin agonist, binding to serotonin receptors and releasing a lot of the feel-good substance into the body. People who take 5-methoxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine report a full-body rush and powerful hallucinations…. although notably, most people who take 5-methoxy-N, N-dimethyltryptamine, generally do so in purified form. It is, for the most part, not licked off the back of a thing that sleeps in a soup of brackish water and alligator urine.

As it’s not much in the toad’s interest to get people high, it secretes some other stuff as well. One of the chemicals it secretes probably could be used to treat people medically. It’s a cardiotoxic steroid which is a close cousin to digitalis, the chemical produced by the foxglove. Digitalis is used to treat people with irregular heartbeats. Its use is carefully calibrated, as there isn’t much difference between a dose that saves a person’s life and a dose that kills them (toads are not known for their mastery of pharmacology). A toad’s version of the toxin releases massive bursts of adrenalin in the person or animal that ingests it; the adrenalin first increases the heart rate and then causes fibrillation. Enough of the toxin causes irregular heartbeat, seizures, and death.

Just as a bonus, toads secrete substances that weaken muscles and cause extreme nausea, too. So the overall effect of toad licking can cause a person to have vivid hallucinations, a racing heart, and muscles too weak to carry their constantly-vomiting body to the bathroom, let alone the hospital.

Just say no to toad!

Even dogs are into licking cane toads for a hallucinogenic trip: https://www.sbs.com.au/news/thefeed/story/dogs-licking-cane-toads-how-dogs-are-using-cane-toads-get-hallucinogenic-high

Overdosing on them is a ‘thing’. It really is.
Cane toad lickers may get cure for overdose soon
Researchers may have a lead on how to treat people who lick cane toads and overdose on the toxins.

I’m going to tell you something else. All that crap about kissing a frog and it turns into a handsome prince? Never happened. Bitches were hallucinating.

Just say no to toad, just say no to everything. Everything I enjoy is bad or unhealthy or going to kill me. I never get to have any fun. Well, except for dance. That is fun and outside of causing me to sit too much, it seems relatively harmless and cheap as far as hobbies go. So I got to dance with Jilley this week. We are on Santa’s naughty list. Check out the show below and find out why.

But first! The Golden Tweezers Award! And this week CONGRATULATIONS go to KYSER for this:

Train Play That Song

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
Train’s “Play That Song” though mellow emphasizes everything about dance… it is fun and yet it inspires creativity. This particular song took me back to the old Trio of Fred Astair, Gene Kelly and Ginger Rogers Movies when we were inspired to dance by the Dancing Man and his friends. Between them they brought life and happiness to the Great Depression in 1932, making it fun to go to the movies and watch as three amazing entertainers tapped, twirled and Charles-toned their way across the screen. Who was to say that a decade later these three thought to be minor entertainers would last, not only in our memories but how we look at the world of musicals, dancing and motion picture industry as a whole

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
It was the timing.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
For me it is Dance and creativity brought to life in a time when dancing was about laughter and fun…

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
To remember that dancing wasn’t about competition, or cliques… we are here to have fun and express what we love… to simply show how much we love with each other…

O Tannenbaum by Celtic Woman

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
It is one of my favorite Christmas Carols, and I love this version from Celtic Woman. The song itself was the inspiration for this act..

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
There is a Santa that appears at the end, and getting him so that people can see him has been the biggest challenge.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
No deeper meaning with this one, purely for the fun and love of this song.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Merry Christmas!!!!

The Legendary Show of December 7th, 2018

There comes a time for even me to not be silly, but rather to pause and bow my head for a moment of respectful silence in gratitude to everyone who has contributed to Elysium Cabaret over the past six years. This show marked our Sixth Anniversary. Six years ago today, Elysium Cabaret performed our first show. What an adventure it has been, one of creativity and friendship, sharing imaginative journeys with one another. To say THANK YOU, I have created a photo album with pictures of acts from Elysium shows over the past six years. Here is the history pages from that album. Of course, you can scroll past it if you don’t want to read it, but for those of you who wonder how it all came together, read on.

A Bit of Elysium History from Babypea
How did Elysium get started? I met Gunner in Gorean roleplay on May 11th 2011. I was in my big fat, bald kajira gag avatar, and a friend sold me to him sight-unseen as a joke. I teleported to the Gorean hub. We thought it was very funny and expected him to run screaming when he saw me. For some reason, he decided to keep me. Months later, one of his girls did a dance for him and he made a huge fuss over it. Being an ornery wench, I said to myself, “Pffft! I’ll show him the hottest dance he has ever seen!” He was my inspiration. I started dancing in Gor regularly in January of 2012, including competitive dance and exhibitions, solely to impress the man who became my real-life other half. I couldn’t care less what anyone else thought. Only him. On April 11th 2012, he joined me in Australia in real life and in July of that year, we were legally married. He has always encouraged me to dance.

I started placing in competitions, then winning them. In under a year, I competed in 41 Gorean dance competitions, placing in all but six with 17 First Places. It was most humbling, I must say. And rewarding on many levels. But it came at a cost. People who didn’t even know me… complete strangers… loved or hated me solely on my Gorean dancing. This fostered an enormous amount of resentment one way or another, and led to dramas and general displays of human ugliness. I was even told by a Gorean dance judge to “dummy down” my dances and “give other girls a chance,” that it was “their turn to win”. So, all that about dancing for the pleasure of my “Owner” was crap. Right? This is what happens when dance becomes competition. It all contaminated the spirit of Gorean dance for me, and left me feeling contempt for it. So, I stopped doing it. Easy decision. I could still dance for Yours (what I call Gunner von Phoenix, because he calls me Mine) privately. But I did not have to dance for him in the Pits of Competitive Unseemliness.

I longed to dance to a variety of music in a variety of styles, to wear different costumes, to build environments, to allow the choreography to speak rather than having to spell everything out with emotes. One day, I created such a dance to a mix of “Stray Cat Strut” and “Everybody Wants to be a Cat”. I had no idea there were people in Second Life already doing this, and performing entire shows on stage. I was a member of Dance Queens, but Gorean dance was so insular and kept me so isolated from the SL dance community as a whole, that my focus was grossly limited. And then one day I saw a notice advertising for dancers in a new troupe called Follies. The notice had been posted in Dance Queens chat group by Lady C (Correia). I was most nervous but replied to her advertisement, and we started talking. Next thing I knew, I was auditioning. I joined Follies and then was directed to Orchids by Lat (Yummy) Lovencraft. Thus, began my journey of learning and discovery on the unlimited highway of Second Life dance.

Being an ornery wench, I naturally soon began to feel a bit constrained. I longed for more freedom in dance. I had unspoken thoughts of starting my own dance troupe, but never ever would I have voiced such terrifying musings. I did not feel ready. Then one day Diawa said I should start my own troupe. So, it was finally spoken out loud and by someone other than myself, proving I was not the only person thinking it. But I still felt it was an insane consideration. I was not ready. I wanted a place where I could do most ANYTHING I wanted, including comedy dances, religious dances, nude dances or not… I wanted to dance some place that had few limits, a place of total expressive freedom. But I was not ready.

I met Paul Woodrunner back in 2009 when we both performed in tribute band shows. We performed under the umbrella of a tribute band conglomerate. I adored Paul. He was my friend. He did Amaretto Breedable Horses under the name of Copperhead Road. He gave me my first horse, General Custer. I had a sim called Snowy River, and he moved onto it. In time, his other half, Jilley, moved onto the sim as well. We lived there a long time. Jilley also performed in tribute bands. When Gunner was planning to relocate to Australia to be with me, I wrongly assumed our time in SL was coming to a close. So, I gave Paul Snowy River and encouraged him to change the name to his own moniker Copperhead Road, which he did. I kept a corner of the sim and rented it from Paul, Gunner and I, with Paul and Jilley on the other three-quarters of the sim. And as time has proven, Gunner and I did not leave SL. We’ve TRIED but we’re still here!

Meanwhile, my dance journey was happening. I invited Paul to a show and told him about dance. One day, he said Jilley wanted to see one of my dances, so I went over, rezzed a set, and showed her. Then Paul said Jilley wanted to dance too. I was thrilled! I longed to spread word of SL dance, to share the passion and hope it infected others as it had me. As hobbies go, it is relatively cheap when compared with many RL hobbies. As addictions go, it is not fattening other than too much sitting, it won’t rot your teeth, give you cancer, or kill your brain cells. I consider dance a healthy addiction and a fulfilling hobby.

And then the day finally came, I was talking with Gunner, Jilley, and Paul, and I *mentioned* that Diawa said I should start my own troupe. I explained I did not WANT a troupe all by myself as Owner. But with co-owners, I’d be game to give it a go. I was delighted to hear that Paul and Jilley were interested in starting a troupe with me, and Gunner was also supportive and wanting to participate. We talked about details. We made all major decisions together. We floated ideas past one another including rules, structure, and protocol. I pondered names and wanted a name that expressed Dance Heaven, but something more abstract. And then I thought of Elysium, a word and place I loved… and Cabaret because I wanted few limits. If someone wanted to do magic or comedy or sing, I wanted them to have a place to do it. Elysium Cabaret became The Name.

Then Paul invited me up to one of his build platforms and showed me something he had built. It was The Empire State Building. I fell in love with it. It was massive and had so much potential! He set about to putting a polish on it, and named it The Empire Room. That was how Elysium Cabaret got a home venue. With Paul building and Jilley decorating, they have created a stunning home for Elysium Cabaret. If you ever venture out the door and explore the rest of the platform, you will be enchanted by some of the other features that you will find, all complimenting The Empire Room. And, don’t forget to look up! I used to love to sit on the very VERY top of that building and take pics of the tiny world down below! You will feel like King of the World on top of The Empire Room!

It was Paul who found the image that became our logo. A gorgeous picture of a golden angel, rising in golden clouds… it was perfect! And Myth Raven made the original letting for the logo. Myth, a real-life graphics artist, was also the person to design the billboard and blog photos of our dancers in the place of the angel, resting in the golden clouds. It was also Myth and Diiar who insisted that I start a blog for Elysium, something I had long-resisted.

I chose our intro song. I had loved that song for YEARS, it always got me bouncing in my chair. Being RL married to the DJ, I asked him to play “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas as the open, and then it was agreed on by the Owners to make that our official intro song for all our shows. I have never gotten tired of it. After all these years, it still gets me bouncing!

Our first show is so vague in my memory now. I just wanted to survive it. But I do remember, we had nine acts. Four choreographers (three of them doing two acts each) and a grand finale group dance followed by a crowd dance that consisted of ONE song which we danced on the same set as our group dance. Our first crowd dance, Mony Mony by Billy Idol, had a total of ten people dancing, which included staff and choreographers. Back then, we were a burlesque troupe mostly and often stripped. We also usually did solos. We had no backup dancers. At all. And yeah, I got naked. A lot! I found it amusing. HERE, KITTY KITTY!

When Elysium started, it was back before Spot On, back before waypoints and movers. The Barre dance HUD had just come out a few months prior, according to my memory. It was all the rage back then, with everyone switching over to the Barre from the Huddles. If you wanted to move across the stage as you danced, you used your arrow keys and hoped for the best. There were some forms of mover tools but they were complicated and did not afford the smooth movement potential that dancers now enjoy, nor the timing control that we have available through the Spot On Choreography System. There was no such thing as mesh back when Elysium first started, and ‘system’ avatar was not a thing, there was no choice in system, mesh, or Bento avatars because these others did not exist. There were just avatars and they were all what we now refer to as ‘system’ avatars. Prim and sculpt props were all there was. No such thing as a nice, totally realistic-looking mesh tree. Of course, costume changes happened much faster, rezzing was a lot easier, and lag was not as bad. Mesh changed everything for the better and the worse, depending on your perspective. Things certainly look WAY better but it comes at a price, which is more lag and rez issues.

I had no idea what to expect with Elysium Cabaret. I had no idea if we would ever find a following. I said to myself, “We will give it three months. If, in three months, we have no audience, no one to dance for, we will give up. But for three months, we will stick to it and be consistent. EVERY Friday at 6pm, no excuses, no cancelling shows, no changing days or times.” We did briefly try 5pm SLT for our shows but that proved a mistake, so we immediately went back to 6pm SLT. Two things I clearly remember about these early shows in Elysium’s history is, we had a very hard time finding choreographers and we were thrilled to have ten people in the audience.

Eventually, Wiz Nirvana joined our Management Team, proving to be a wonderful asset, helping with so many busy details. Eventually, Elysium Cabaret evolved into a pattern with a schedule and it just seemed to flow easily along, everyone doing their jobs, all parts working together to keep the whole running smoothly. Elysium’s success has been the result of hard work and dedication from a LOT of people, behind the scenes, on stage, and in the audience as well. Our audience is as much a part of our show as our dancers and choreographers, as is our DJ, for without music, we can’t dance. Without an audience to share our dances with, there wouldn’t be much fulfilment in performing. Everyone matters. Every contribution makes a difference. Again, it proves great works are made of many small works. Large, successful dance troupes are made of many talented, generous PEOPLE.

That is what Elysium is about to me. PEOPLE. It is the sharing of creativity with kindred spirits, a social outlet where the imagination can have an enhanced experience by melding with other minds. I never wanted to limit myself in Second Life dance. Some of the best rides I have had in dance have been in other peoples’ cars on this roller coaster that we share called Elysium Cabaret. I celebrate SIX YEARS with great joy, appreciation, and wonderment. And I raise my arms as our car climbs, preparing to tip into Year Seven, and I cry out BONZAI! Come what may, THANK YOU ALL for Six amazing years of creative social connection through Second Life dance at Elysium Cabaret, in The Empire Room at Copperhead Road. Welcome to the weekend! Our tagline was coined by Paul.

To commemorate Six Years of Elysium Cabaret, I have spent countless hours, days, weeks going through hundreds of folders of photos, pictures of shows from the past six years. I have put these pictures together in an album which you can pick up in-world. I have tried to select one pic of each Elysium Cabaret dance that I have photos of. Some funny or extra moments I have selected more than one, but I have tried to not do that too much and tried to not duplicate pictures of acts. It is easy to lose a needle in the haystack of thousands of photos, so your patience and understanding with the photos presented is appreciated.

You can wear the album as a HUD on your monitor, or rez it on the ground to look through it. It was meant to be viewed in Landscape form. You will need to enlarge it to read the words by clicking it, selecting Size from the drop-down menu, then clicking the number 5, then the number 9 to go largest. You will have to have it rezzed for this, otherwise it will not likely fit entirely on your monitor and you will have to edit it and slide it left and right to read it.

The album is a glimpse of the past six years of Elysium Cabaret. More or less, there is a rough order of older pictures from the earliest shows, then the photos moving through time, progressing to the present. Any names or words on pictures were put there by other people. My time constraints will not allow me to do names on that many photos. Photo credits are not possible, as I have no idea who took many of these photos. I know I took a lot of them, but Toysoldier Thor took quite a few, as did Fukuju Amaterasu, R. Crap Mariner, Web Sass, and many other contributors.

Now, I have missed shows. There have been entire blocks of time, months, where I took NO pictures because trying to take pictures during shows is difficult when you are performing in them AND trying to contribute to running the show as an Owner AND wrangling blog fodder. Then there are the many times I could not take pictures of acts due to rez issues. Thus, the 1731 pictures I have gathered represent only around half of the acts that have graced Elysium’s stage in The Empire Room. But I have done my best to gather what I can, calling for others to contribute, (also ravaging R. Crap Mariner’s Flicker), and this album is the result. Six years of memories shared, a labour of love and appreciation resulting in carpal tunnel and feelings of warmth and satisfaction. My gift to you. Thank you for taking the time to share in the spirit of friendship and creative fun. Let us raise our glasses in welcome to the Seventh Year.

[2018/12/07 17:45] Queenie Acacia: I was looking at the pics and I remember so many of the early ones, the ones that made me want to dance

If you want to DL any pictures from the Sixth Anniversary Album, I have uploaded them ALL into Elysium’s Facebook group. I separated them into five albums, roughly by year. You will have to poke around to find the pictures you want, then feel free to DL them for your personal use and memories.

Please also pick up your gift created by Web Sass, a dressing table for dancers to use to put their makeup on, with all the special Anniversary trimmings: an angel teddy bear, a box of chocolates, champagne, balloons… you can unpack the table to find some of these items that you can hold. Web and I worked together on this, wanting to give something special to everyone in memory of this special event. And I hope you signed the guest book, near the entrance of The Empire Room, right behind the audience seating area!

[2018/12/07 17:59] Elayn: Web, that dressing table is wonderful! It’s going right into my dressing closet when I get home. Thank you so much for your work.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who is or has ever been a part of Elysium:
Thank you to our choreographers, dancers, and guest dancers both past and present, without your hard work, dedication, and willingness to share your creative journey, we would have no shows.
Thank you to our DJs… a dance show would be impossible without music!
Thank you to our staff including many people who help with a myriad of things including filling in hosting, greeting, taking pictures, the blog, and more… thank you for your dedication and loyalty. You help to keep the engine at Elysium well-oiled and running smoothly, and keep spirits high.
Thank you to OUR AUDIENCE!! Without PEOPLE to dance for, doing shows would be pointless. The human soul longs to reach out and connect with other souls… to bond… that is why we love to dance for YOU. It is our hope to entertain you, to excite you, make you smile or laugh, make you cry… make you FEEL something, that we may connect with you. We wish to touch your hearts, lift your spirits, get you thinking, take you on an imaginative journey… thank you for joining us on this adventure.

[2018/12/07 18:00] Greenie Flanagan: awwww Corri thanks for reading all of that out for us

And HERE is a look at the fabulous FIRST SHOW of Year Seven! And OMG WHAT A SHOW IT WAS!! Brilliant acts, every one of them fabulous!! No Golden Tweezers Award tonight folks, because I am exhausted and have fallen into a heap and well the entire night was just exhilarating and overwhelming, so I need some recover time. Okay, stuff it, I can’t help it, I MUST give a Golden Tweezers Award out to The Wiz for THIS priceless post:

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
This song has been in my list for a while and I could not think of a better night to do it than the Elysium Anniversary night.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
This dance was certainly an adventure in waypoints and time, I had so much I wanted to do with it and not a whole lot of time to do it. I found myself having to settle for a more simplistic set and concentrate this time on the choreography which turned out to be a lot of fun.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This dance “Someone in the Crowd” was made to say thank you to our audience who comes to see us every week, they are just as important to the Empire Room experience as the dancers, choreographers and management. I could not think of a better way to celebrate something as monumental as the 6 years of shows and so many more to come.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
It is for all of you, and thank you to my dancers too for being there with me to pull it all together.

La Tasca – La Guitarra Azul

[2018/12/07 18:32] Dear Misfit: i like the eye candy
1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
Interestingly enough the set came first. It was a photoprop I bought which I built around to make a full sized set and two flamenco dances that A&M added to their flamenco series that got the ball rolling on this dance. Then I started the search for a song and I came across this group and La Tasca! Would you believe that is the Spanish word for a cheap bar or a tavern, in fact a dive? Laughs.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
It’s a very small space to dance in, especially with five dancers so there’s not a lot of scope for movement and it’s a fairly long song so I hope it’s not too boring.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
No deep meaning. The song is a great latin flamenco fusion and I really grew to love it as I played it over and over and over. It certainly gets the blood flowing.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Um, er, nope!

5. How do you feel about Babypea’s ass? Any devotions you wish to publicly express?
More um-ing and er-ing followed by no comment.

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I used to work in a club in RL where this was done, It was a bit of Glamor, model, and pose a little Class. I thought it was appropriate for E for the Anniversary show, “This is a tribute” is how it starts. its my tribute to E, and a Thank You for a wonderful year, by sharing an act I enjoyed getting all dressed up in a tux and telling the story of Vogue where it really started. FYI Madonna did NOT create Voguing.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Finding proper poses and dances so the girls danced and posed as girls and the guys danced and posed as guys.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It was a good memory for me, the club I worked at is no longer standing, and I actually have a piece of the stage framed on the wall.. So bringing it here is a way of sharing a piece of me with you, but this week a good piece.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have in both RL an SL. Maybe if you listen to the words it will tell you the real story of Voguing and how it started. It was battles on the dance floor held by different houses (groups of people that were family and supported) instead of violence it was danced and posed out.

[2018/12/07 18:57] Greenie Flanagan: how cool would it be if J.K. saw this on YouTube? …no pressure Tristan 😉
1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I have been talking about doing a themed set for a while now, so when the Anniversary show came up I thought it would be great to create it for that.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Oh…where do I start? Everything was pretty much a challenge! I wanted the Hogwarts Express in my set but trains have so many things linked together so made it difficult for me to do what I actually wanted to do with them. However, I was able to adapt and I am pleased with the outcome. Scene changes are a challenge when objects just don’t want to disappear! I have learned a few tricks but I think I still have a lot to learn on how to fix that in the future.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This is fun for me and I hope for everyone else, whether taking part or watching. I hope I was able to capture the essence of what Harry Potter is all about in each scene.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Not a great deal more to say about this apart from I hope you enjoyed it. There was so much I wanted to do with this theme for my set that maybe I will do more in the future….you never know! Also, not forgetting the wonderful Ame for all her help with the music, she so kindly put my two pieces of music together and did a wonderful job! Thank you so much Ame!

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I love the energy and message of this song. It is SO Elysium Cabaret! It was the perfect choice for our Sixth Anniversary dance.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Fitting in a LOT of dancers. I wanted EVERYONE who WANTED to participate to be included. No one left out. So I sent out notices and posts calling for people who wanted to dance in this act, and then set about to making enough movers … and room on the stage… to fit everyone. I asked Web to build a castle set with amazing lighting, and told her it had to be along the wall and not sticking out too far cause we would need room for a lot of dancers, and she pulled that off.

Above photo by R. Crap Mariner with the correct windlight (see R.’s Flicker Elysium album for more pics of the show that are way better than mine).

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It has very deep meaning. It is powerful and emotional and has the best message for all people, not just dancers… for everyone. I have been very weepy lately, crying very easily in RL over things that warm my heart and make me feel happy. I must be very close to the Veil cause all the love and happy and peace and contentment I have been overwhelmed with of late is not of this world. I know it’s from Capitol “H”im. Him. But He is not who or what most people think He is, He is so much more. And so are we. It’s fantastic. And He is male and female. Our Earthly pronouns are irrelevant to the facts and the long-term truth of things.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Yes, for everyone, from the song:

“There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are”
She said, “‘Cause he made you perfect, babe”
“So hold your head up girl and you’ll go far,
Listen to me when I say….”

I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby I was born this way

Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way

[17:09] DarkRaven Ninetails: you do understand that as long as you are posed that way your panties are showing

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I love to create crowd dances that follow a theme – and the Ramones are one of my favorites. Once Rock and Roll High School came into play, it all rolled from there!

A Look at the November 30th 2018 Show

*picks head up from desk*

Wait. That makes it sound like I am picking my head up with my hands, like my head is not attached to my neck. Which is how I am feeling and often describes how I function or, more like it, malfunction, but still, it just doesn’t sound right here. I need to reword that.

*lifts head from desk*

That’s better. I need to add something in there about how I am feeling, as this is not just a “lifts head from desk” because I was having a wee nap.

*Wearily lifts head from desk, eyes glazed over with delirium, hair a ragged nest as I glower at the monitor through clenched teeth*

That’s better. It properly conveys the state I am in, even though I failed to mention the shaking and the foaming at the mouth.

Dance exhaustion. But it is more than exhaustion, it is uber frustration. Especially when you are doing a dance with a lot of dancers and creating formations, placing you in Waypoint Hell. Trying to keep track of whose WP is where, the times, the sleep times, and trying to make sure the feet are moving at the right times so that there are no slides, plus which waypoint gets moved next to where in order to stay in formation and OH can’t do that cause then those two will be passing through one another, so how can I get that one here and this one there at the same time without a collision… it can give a person a NERVOUS FUCKING BREAKDOWN.

I HATE WAYPOINTS! Pardon me. I DETEST waypoints. A LOT! I would like to blow them up, run them through a grinder, stab them with a sword. Evil horrid things that turn my brain inside out, melt down my circuits and leave me begging for the soothing release of a lobotomy. Oh I know many of you know my pain! As far as I’m concerned, people who like waypoints are in league with the Devil. Or they are witches! It’s just not normal to like them and anyone who does like them is highly suss and should be kept under close observation. They are enough to give an ice cube cold sweats. So you can imagine my shock and horror when I saw what I saw backstage at the show Friday night.

It started out like any other show. Corri was warming everyone up with her infectious tunes as Paul and Jilley welcomed arriving guests, handing out glasses of sparkling wine and directing people to seating. Backstage, Wiz was checking to make sure all the dancers were in costume with makeup on, ankle locks, tag checks, and reminding them to set home and stretch out before the show to minimise any chance of injury. I was in my usual spot, out the back door having a smoke, keeping my head down and hoping no one noticed me.

I was lurking, which always enabled me to see fabulous things not meant for my eyes. I inhaled deeply on my cigarette then glanced to the left as I blew out a long plume of satisfying smoke. I felt the cold, hard stone of the wall against my back as curious eyes peered in through the open door, trying to spy on the backstage activities, wondering if I could catch some good gossip. And that was when I saw the Horrid Thing. RIGHT THERE backstage… I almost had a coronary! I actually cried out loud, an audible gasp of fright! There I saw perhaps the most wretched sight of my entire Second Life: it was a GIANT WAYPOINT with another even more gigantor waypoint! They were actually standing upright, wearing shoes and walking around, dancing, bobbing to the music, seeming disturbingly… sentient.

I frowned hard, my gaze darkening as I considered that I might be hallucinating. I wondered if I might still be asleep and simply having a nightmare. WHAT the HELL were those things and how was it possible they had grown big and bigger and come to life? What did they want, were they here to torture me? AND THEN I saw them ATTACK QUEENIE!

I whipped out my camera to document the assault. Not only for security and the wanted posters, but also for the newspapers and National Enquire, everyone would want to hear about this. Maybe I could sell the pics and make some money? WELL! Just so you know I am not making this up, CHECK THESE SNAPS OUT:

The lovely Queenie was backstage, simply warming up for her dance in the show. She didn’t seem to notice the two EVIL waypoints, watching her.

Suddenly, the smaller of the two waypoints ran up behind Queenie and deliberately…

…knocked her down! It was so MEAN!

Queenie tried to be the bigger person. She rose up and pleaded for peace with the vicious waypoints. But they just laughed at her and…

…knocked her down again. CALL SECURITY this is ASSAULT AND BATTERY!! I want those waypoints BANNED! OMG I was steaming by this point!  HOW DARE YOU assault one of my dancers!!!!

Queenie valiantly stood up and fought back, giving the waypoints a verbal beat-down.

I cheered as she slapped the smaller of the two! They appeared about to run off when suddenly, the smaller, clearly-meaner of the two turned back and…

…knocked poor Queenie head over heels! It was appalling!

I had had enough. I tossed my cigge and stamped it out then whirled in through the doorway to wrangle those two waypoints and melt them down, turn them into a litter box for Web’s herd of cats, when without warning Queenie summoned her evil alter ego and POOF! She cast a spell of some sort onto the wayward waypoints, sending them back to the One Ring which is rumoured to be located in Niecho’s ass! And I can prove this is true!

HERE is your proof… these evil triangle terrors come from Niecho: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Costume-WAYPOINT-1/16109078

He is preparing an army of the little bastards to take over Second Life dance and make all us choreographers his slaves. Absolutely frightening! What shall we do? Please post your ideas on how to battle these waypoints. I have some experience in killing things and blowing shit up because I play Dying Light and Fallout 4. But I am used to fighting zombies, supermutants, robots, synths, bad people, monsters… waypoints are a different sort of enema enemy. Let’s put our heads together and plot a way to kick their asses.

Just everyone try to remain calm. We will beat this, we are stronger than a mob of waypoints. Together, we can overcome anything. While we are forming our strategy, let’s give a big shout-out to the winner of the evening’s Golden Tweezers Award. It is another Duel award. Dual? Dual. Big difference. Here are the winning posts:

Ariana Grande – R.E.M.

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
When I heard the song, it made me feel all dreamy and I felt it would fit very well with the theme for the show.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Timing everything but the real challenge is getting the end pose to fit! A lot of tweaking is required to get it right but, I always have an end pose, so it has to be done.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This is basically my feelings about my husband Antonio and how meeting him was and still is a dream to me. I know it sounds mushy but what the hell, it is romance and stuff lol!

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Not much else to say, just sit back and relax, put your feet up, float on a cloud and enjoy with me.

Evanescence “Lost in Paradise”

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I have always been inspired by Evanescence as an artist. Their lyrics and instrumentals reach deep within me making me feel the emotional pull of the song. This particular song made me feel as if I was drawn into a fairy tale, not one but multiple fairy tales. I was entranced by the sadness of the song but also the feeling of hope within the lyrics.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
With this song it was finding the right moves that paid tribute to the feeling of the song… any lyrical choreography could in truth do but what would give you that feeling of being drawn into the story?

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
For me it is a bit of childhood innocence and a darker feeling of longing…

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
There is always a darkness that lays beneath the light but that does not mean the light can not shine… we should not give up on fairy tales for they give us hope and help us to remember that innocence of creativity…

[17:27] Niecho Vollmar: I’m not pure evil. I’m only a little evil. A smidgeon of evil. I’m like IVORY…. 99.9% Pure and shit.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Building the tower to look rustic and not like a palace.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Means I get to dance with Pea and be a carefree kid 🙂

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?

Lana Del Rey – Once Upon A Dream (From Maleficent)(Official Audio)

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
That voice! Lana Del Rey has one of the most sexy sultry voices. This is such an innocent song sung by someone else (originally from Sleeping Beauty) but once she redid it for Maleficent it became something totally different. Dark, sinister, magical….amazing.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
All the fades I used in the set. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking but by then it’s too late and I can continue or redo the set.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
I’m team Maleficent so this song is one of my favorites. I have danced to it before and wanted to do it one more time, making a completely different set for it than I had before.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I only ever related to the Disney villains, I’m sure that says a lot about me.

[17:31] Niecho Vollmar: 0.2 is too small…. blah blah blah…… 🙂
[17:31] Jilley: it most certainly is
[17:31] Niecho Vollmar: No guy wants to ever hear that

Gracie
Morning has Broken by Cat Stevens

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I chose this song because it makes me feel hopeful.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Finding animations for this, its a rather slow song, so it was challenging to find the appropriate animations to match the tempo.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
That after a dark or stormy time in life morning will come and with it light and hope. We just have to hang on tightly through the storms until we reach the morning.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I just hope you enjoy anything I present for you to watch. Nothing specifically about this dance, but to just remember that the storm will pass, we are all going through things, and fighting some battle, it will pass and morning will come, so hang in there, surround yourself with people who uplift you and help you to hang on.

I have always loved the original of this song but it was not really one that struck me as a song for an act. When I heard this version on the commercials for the Nutcracker movie the images came into my mind instantly and the challenge this week was the perfect time to do it.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The only real problem I had was getting my fades to fade out fully but with the se of an addition script it was fixed (I hope)

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
The original song by Gwen Stefani almost looses the meaning in the beat but this version slowed down and remade shows the true meaning, the struggles of women in society being scorned for who they dream to be or judged by other unfairly. It is a bit deeper than my usual work I hope you all enjoy it.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
No Just thank you for coming to see us week after week, I always look forward to my nights at the Empire Room.

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
A good friend showed me this song sometime ago, I paid attention to it as it struck home with me so I kept it in my notebook of songs to do. Then this challenge came up with dreams, and well my dreams are never really unicorns farting glitter and rainbows.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
How to properly tell my story, so people could catch on to it. Also the Costume Assistant, was a bit of a pain in the arse this time, not to mention I had a fever induced dream about it, but thats a different story,

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
It has a deeper meaning, sometimes our dreams an sleep is not the happiest place to be, we can be the most vulnerable there.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
I hope I tell the story well enough in the set that not much needs to be said, but one thing is true in the song. People tell you that you have to tame your demons and conquer them. That is not always true, keep them on the leash so you can remember where you came from what you have conquered, and where you are now it will give you strength to keep pushing on.
