Let’s Look at Elysium’s January 25th 2019 Show!

Some people have been sick but still managed to get to the show and perform. Other than that, some people have been resting or wandering around the streets in a daze, pestering the passersby for spare change and cigarettes. Unfortunately one of these vagrants wandered into The Empire Room on Friday night. Paul dispatched security to remove the nuisance from the premises, but then it was learned the derelict was none other than Babypea. So they grabbed her and dragged her backstage, keeping her under watch until showtime cause she was opening the show.

Hey, look, it’s DJ Corri!

That was an attempt at a distraction. Not feeling well so will get right into last Friday’s show. But first!!

Of course we have our Golden Tweezers Award, the person who posted the funniest post in group chat during the show… funniest determined by a panel of judges comprised of me, myself and I. The weekly winner receives a nice trophy AND their post is preserved here on the blog. HERE is this week’s winning post:

Woman Like Me – Little Mix and Nikki Minaj

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
As you may know from some of my previous sets I am a Little Mix fan! When I heard this song, I knew I had to do a set.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Trying to get everything timed right, with the transitions and costume changes is always a challenge. So there was a lot of adjustments but I managed to get it done, however, I pray that with lag we don’t end up naked lol.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This is purely fun and a lot of sexy, thank you to my ladies Lina and Jilley Roo for dancing with me.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Well…..Roo charmed the prison guards into keeping her warm at night. Personally I think something else was going on there but you know Roo is a bad girl. Those guards (Bill and Bob) were smiling, so it made it easier on Lina and I when we were smuggling contraband in our bras! No one knew…..until now of course. Ha! …….Roo is going to kill me now so I had best lay low 🙂

Miami Vice Theme

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
My inspiration started with our theme, city heat. I love to do a mini theme for my crowd dances so this morphed into Miami Vice. Miami fit the city and heat, and who does it with more style than Crockett and Tubbs? Double bonus – as detectives, they’re the “heat” too 🙂 For the music, I started with the Miami Vice intro, then chose 3 songs that were used in MV episodes. The detectives had a few words to add of course.
Smuggler’s Blues – Glenn Frey

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
The set was a challenge for me! For the crowd dances we need to have space for 50 people, and I wanted something fun that also tied back to Miami Vice. Do you know how few Miami Vice things are on marketplace? A bit of demolition, duct tape, and I’m pretty happy. Hopefully people noticed the bartenders – and of course I had to have flamingos!
Naughty Naughty – John Parr

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
This dance was pure fun! I try to make each crowd dance a bit different, and a surprise or two. Hopefully I hit the mark! PS – the 80’s rocked.
The Heat is On – Glenn Frey
