1. What is your history with dance in SL?
I joined a group of friends for a fun night out in SL in Nov 2017 and we went to a dance show. After the show one of the gals mentioned she had a dream to create dances in SL and everyone thought it was a great idea and that she should do a show. I love when people have dreams and getting to help them pursue them is such a treat for me, so I jumped in and offered to do anything I could to help her make that dream come true. (It did) Not long after that we went out again Nov 17, 2017 to be exact and this time we arrived at The Empire Room to watch the Elysium Cabaret. That night watching that show and seeing all that magic was beyond anything I thought possible in SL…heck, it exceeded what was possible in RL too. Then I heard those words to join in on stage and this shy girl hit that mover so fast, yes it was in the corner tucked away nice and safe but I was up there and I wiggled and in that moment “My Dream” began One day I will be a dancer and I will dance on that stage.

I wont go into details about my first steps into the dance world but I will happily admit it led me to Taema Mynx. Who knew that asking me to sit on a mover could lead to finding a great friend and mentor, but it did. Not long after, I was invited to join Mynx Dance family as a dancer and then on April 22, 2018 I debuted for the very first time as a choreographer at the Lighting The Way Dancing For Autism event.

Taema was also the one who got permission to add me to her dance at Elysium on June 29th, 2018. I remember looking at my “Guest Dancer” tag and thinking this is a nice start. and then MAGIC happened and there I was on my mover, wearing my costume and wiggling away at The Empire Room, and yes I know some say its just ball sitting but man my cheeks hurt because I was smiling so hard and enjoying every single second. Double bonus in getting to support a friend do what they love to do and holy hell, I got to be in the spotlight and look out at the audience. That night my dream took another big step forward when I realized the fact that I wanted to be a Dancer, not a Guest Dancer and one day….not that day but one day way down the road I wanted to be one of the Elysium Cabaret Choreographers.

So it was time to get on track and learn what I needed to do, and go to lots of shows to see just what was possible. So over the past many months I have been lucky enough to be invited to be a choreographer for Mynx Dance Company (Thank you Kyser and Taema) , Apollo (Thank you Paul) and Noir (Thank you Kyra) and I have been a backup dancer at Dance Queens, Phoenix, The Outsiders, AGT and The Omega Girls

2. What do you enjoy the most about SL dance?
I love getting to be part of a group that supports and encourages each other to dream big and try hard. I love the support that happens back stage during shows but I also love when you find those rare gems of people that you trust and respect enough to ask for help and suggestions not just praise. I like being pushed past what I think I can do and when those who are truthful with me when it is not right, those are the ones who usually make me cry when they tell me I did good. I made them proud!

3. What do you enjoy the least about SL dance?

4. What has been your best experience in SL dance?
I can’t pick just one. I still love sitting in the audience and just watching every move and being amazed at what someone can imagine, and then create. I love the backstage conversations during shows, from the cheers to the laughs and the naughtiness, it just keeps me smiling. I also love being on stage supporting so many wonderful choreographers. I love getting to be the one to push play and that feeling you get with your heart racing, hands trembling, stomach doing flips (that not even SL animations can do) and having to remind yourself to breathe so you stay alert long enough to push stop and close the curtain.

5. Out of all the dances you have done or participated in, which is your fave?
It is so hard to pick just one but if I have to, it would be the day I debuted as a choreographer during the Lighting The Way – Autism Awareness. Many years ago I was lucky enough to participate in an aquatic program with children who were autistic, I loved every moment and still remember my sweet little Chad and his bright blues eyes.

6. What message would you like to leave for your fans or the dance community?
Huge fit of giggles at the thought that I could have fans…what would I say to them???? Do you have a good therapist?

To the dance community of SL? Thank you for making me feel welcome, accepted and encouraged to dream big and make it happen.

7. Anything else you’d like to share?
The dance world of SL is the most deliciously crazy family and I love being part of it!!!!!
