1. What is your history with dance in SL?
I started dancing with Austin In Motion in July 2020. What started out as a way of getting involved in the Austin community quickly turned into a passion. In October 2020, I bought the Spot-On Choreography Design System and began working on my first dance. I made my choreography debut in January 2021 with Austin In Motion and Just Dance!! Theatre Troupe. Also during 2021, I joined Ravenswood Dance Troupe.

Then in April 2021, I joined the X-A Dancers as a choreographer and dancer. One month later in May 2021, I was asked invited to create a European dance troupe based at Xaara in order to provide an opportunity for other non-North American based members/choreographers/dancers to be able to present their own dance creations. This troupe is known as Palette de la Danse and I hold not only a choreographer role, but that of one of the troupe directors.

In August 2022, I participated in Dance Queens Artistic License Challenge with my interpretation of Jim Croce’s Time in a Bottle as arranged by Rob Lane for A Discovery of Witches and performed by Julia Church.

I came to Elysium Cabaret as a guest dancer with Azdra in August 2022 and then with Taema in September 2022. I debuted as an Elysium choreographer at the October 7th 2022 show with ‘Humans’ by Rag’N’Bone Man. And I have now presented my second dance during the October 2022 matinee.

2. What do you enjoy the most about SL dance?
I enjoy the creative process of taking a song and seeing where my mind takes me. All of the dances I’ve created to date are my ‘babies’ and I love sharing my visions with others in the SL dance community, as well as those who enjoy coming to see the shows.

3. What do you enjoy the least about SL dance?
I think the biggest thing I dislike most about SL dance is that there are limitations to what can be done in a virtual world. My mind comes up with ideas for which I either can’t do because the animations don’t exist or the process is near to impossible for one reason or another.

4. What has been your best experience in SL dance?
I have to choose just one? Let me see…..my best experience so far in SL dance is when I opened Elysium’s show on October 7th 2022 as a debuting choreographer. It was a great ‘nod’ of approval to my skills as a choreographer and I was deeply honoured by the troupe. This experience has given me the confidence to challenge myself and not be so hesitant to try different concepts and effects.

5. Out of all the dances you have created or participated in, which is your fave?
This is an absolute hard one to answer. In my short time as a choreographer, I have created a catalog of 37 dances so far and have danced in a great number of other’s dances. Since I can’t pick just 1, here are my top 4….

1. Bad Habits (Ed Sheeran with Bring Me the Horizon) – choreographed by me
2. Ready for It (Taylor Swift) – choreographed by Azdra
3. Gucci Coochie (Die Antwoord) – choreographed by Taema Mynx
4. I Will Never Die (Delta Rae) – choreographed by me

6. What message would you like to leave for your fans or the dance community?
Its never too late to find something you’re passionate about. I don’t have a background in dance in RL, but here in SL, I’ve found I love creating dances and enjoy sharing them with the SL community. SL should be fun and SL dance is definitely fun.
