A Look at Elysium’s Vegas Theme Show of February 22, 2019

It was a big night in The Empire Room at Copperhead Road as DJ Gunner returned to Elysium Cabaret! The Gman has been doing a huge job in RL that just finished, so he is back until the next big job, and he returned full-on, not only DJing the show but dancing in one of the acts AND doing an act of his own. Plus we saw the debut of a new choreographer, Tiggy. Elysium Cabaret went to Vegas tonight… money and gambling, The Strip, showgirls, and of course Siegfriend and Roy with their white tigers! Lots of magic, fun and friendship, laughter. Let’s take a look.

But first! A Golden Tweezers Award duet to Gman and Eva for this little bit of outrageous:

[17:49] masterperry: Meatloaf sung our wedding song 🙂
[17:49] EvaHarley: please say it wasn’t 2 out of 3 ain’t bad gunner…

Okay, that was really funny. CONGRATULATIONS YOURS AND EVA!

Lina just sizzles, a steamy slow roast!
Money Money – Suzana d’Amour

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I listen to Pandora a lot, and when this song came on the set just came to life in my head. Originally it was a pit show act, but with the Vegas theme, I knew it would be perfect to bring to the Empire Room stage.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
This dance being modified from a 9m round stage to a full stage act was a tough adjustment.

3. What does this dance mean to you?
This song is just pure fun and sexy and burlesque, which is no secret that I just love.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Just sit back and enjoy

Mind Is the Magic – The Siegfried & Roy Las Vegas Show

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
It was a Vegas theme night and I wanted something other than the usual Vegas songs/acts. I was looking for something a bit unique, and well Siegfried and Roy are SO Vegas… their white tigers are Vegas icons. I was stoked when I found the song.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I had a hard time with it because, I don’t like the way Michael sang it. I love his music but I felt his vocals were weak on this… almost like he was mumbling. So it was hard to get into the choreo for it. But it was a great showman song for a Vegas act.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
To me, it means Vegas. For years, I have associated white tigers with Vegas. I lived there for seven years, my family still lives there, and Siegfried and Roy mean a lot to me as well. They are such caring, sincere people and so dedicated to their white kitties.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Roy has said repeatedly that Mantecore (the tiger who allegedly attacked him in 2003) was NOT attacking him, but rather he was having a stroke on stage and the tiger sensed he was in trouble and was trying to move him to safety, dragging him along the way a tiger would move its young… by the neck. I do believe Roy in this, he would know his own tiger better than anyone. Just a human neck is not as strong as a tiger neck, and flesh is more tender than fur. But I do not believe the tiger was attacking him, otherwise he’d most likely be dead.

“I got a stroke and I fell down, and I see these blue eyes staring looking at me,” said Roy. “I was like, ‘What now? What happened?'”
“He picked me up by the neck and got me to the side so he’d know I’d be safe — like a mother with a cub. He took care of me.”
Roy told us that had Mantecore not severed his artery to relieve the blood pressure, he could have gone brain dead.

https://www.etonline.com/news/148564_roy_horn_reveals_shocking_info_on_tiger_attack_from_11_years_ago

When Mantecore passed at age 17, Roy said the tiger was like a brother to him. I think that is beautiful.

Elysium Cabaret’s Show of February 15th 2019

If it’s Friday, it’s Elysium Cabaret, and hey it was Friday! Welcome to the weekend! Friends and family gathered under a canopy of imagination at The Empire Room on the Copperhead Road sim. Paul and Jilley welcomed arriving guests who were immediately enveloped in DJ Corri’s intoxicating tunes. Wiz was indisposed, we will say he was working in RL but I heard he was really in jail for trying to feather dust a meter maid who was attempting to give him a parking fine. Okay I’m lying, Wiz was not in jail! Does anybody know where he has been? He has gone missing! We need to put an APB out on him. FIND OUR WIZ!

*climbs to the top of the nearest mountain and yells out, “WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!”

Well. The show must go on, and on it did go. Let’s take a look at the fine performances presented! All made with love of music and movement, a celebration of creativity and human imagination. Let us share with one another.

Jo created something unique and very special, striking and artsy that is a must-see in SL dance.
Black or white – Glee Cast

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
It’s actually a convoluted tale. I went to an art installation by Meilo Minotaur recently and she generously made the avatars she used available for anyone to take. Some were perfect for a dance and I had the set in my mind right away: very simplistic, stark and childlike, as they are, plus mostly white and black to show them off. The set idea is based on a Cica Ghost exhibit I saw years ago and the trees and cats are actually from her store. But I needed a song. I googled black and white plus songs and this Michael Jackson one popped up and finally all the elements were in place to create the dance.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Actually this was the fastest I have ever put together a dance. Three days after I found the avatars this dance was boxed in its rezzer and complete. That’s very unusual, extremely fast for me. A chunk of time was spent negotiating with Cica to sell me modifiable trees and cats to add the rezzer script as her work is rarely mod. It just all seemed to come together neatly.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
I know the whole thing makes no sense at all. To me it is just a very visual experience, about the achromatic colours, black and white, inspired by the avatars who were just longing to dance. But it was great fun to do.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Don’t look for any subtleties. Laughs. But I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed turning these avatars into dancers!

It was Friday night, and that meant, it was Elysium Cabaret. Excitement was in the air as guests came from near and far, dressed in their finery, gathering in friendship in the glamorous Empire Room at Copperhead Road. Paul and Jilley welcomed friends and family as DJ Corri sizzled the airwaves with her tunes, getting people bouncing in their seats. Wiz was backstage, assuring dancers were prepared, stretching out and applying makeup, spraying hair and zipping up costumes… Babypea was chained up in the dressing room trying to regain consciousness. It was almost showtime! What came next? Let’s look at the pictures and see!

Motion Picture (Blake Mcgrath)

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I had another song an set in mind, but then Blake dropped this an I heard this song and couldn’t stop listening to it, it felt right.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Well the timing to be honest, I know there are some rough spots in it, this was my first time putting a chair dance in, and my timing was harsh with my animations but over time I”ll probably redo it I have a few other things I’d like to do with this.

3. What does this dance mean to you?
Just took a little leap and reviled more than Hailie or I normally do on stage, and yes I was in control of her clothes (as always) and it was a little gift for her, was a year ago on valentines day of all days that our avs meet av to av and started talking.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Not really, you will see it again with a few changes, maybe a little steamier. However don’t be looking for the movie to be released publicly anytime soon.

Queen – Loren Gray

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I found this song as I was searching Youtube and loved it from the moment I heard it. Instantly a set sprung to mind and it is something a little different to what I usually do.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Nothing very challenging with this one, just attempting to take note to the finer details to make transitions looks smoother. Although with lag, you never know what is going to happen, will I be naked again? who knows, I hope not lol Maybe I should put two pairs of panties on just to be safe! lol

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
No deeper meaning to this for me personally, just love the song and my set reflects how it inspired my imagination. However, I do feel the song reflects the strength of a woman.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Nothing else to know about this, just watch out for the flames, as the dragons may escape, they are pretty friendly really when they are not hungry. I will be sure to feed them before the show…….but I have been very forgetful lately *giggles* oh well….hope you enjoy the show 🙂

Babypea

Low feat. RuPaul by Todrick Hall

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I was searching YouTube for a particular genre of songs for a themed show, and came across this song. I fell head over heels in love with it, to the point of obsessively listening to it over and over and over for several hours. The video is BRILLIANT and lead me to my latest crush, Chester Lockhart. He is BEAUTIFUL and played the scarecrow in the video. This song pumps energy, the words to it are brilliant innuendo, and I love how they have modernised The Wizard of Oz.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
A lot of characters I needed to fit into the dance, bringing them in at different times to compliment the song. Plus three sets. But the costumes were the most difficult. I wanted Wizard of Oz but wanted it sexy and modern, not the traditional for the costumes. Was all put impossible to find exactly what I wanted. The scarecrow was really difficult. Try finding a sexy well-made mesh scarecrow costume. But I am really satisfied with what we did.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Total fun and super badassery! LOVE the rhythymn!

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
Check out my new obsession, and get obsessed with this amazing uber sexy dude, he is mesmerising and the epitome of SWOONABLE DELISH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FBS6bwnlKY

Remember the February 1st 2019 Show?

I sure don’t. I wasn’t at this show. Where was I? Well, to be completely honest, some bitch who wanted to steal my magic bag gave me a poison cheese ball. I took a bite and fell into a deep, deep sleep. I slept through everything for like two weeks straight! I only woke up after my cat started licking my face but she was just after the cheese ball. I was most likely snoring with my mouth open. Judging by the raw patches on my tongue, I’d say she licked the cheese ball out of my mouth, so now I have cat germs. I have no idea what I missed during my slumber. Let’s find out!

Honky Tonk Badonkadonk
1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
It started with wanting a prop people could wear and change. Well, shoes wouldn’t work so well, outfits either, and then it hit me – everyone can wear a hat right? Once that started the ball rolling it was so much fun finding favorite songs that tied back to hats.

Carmen Miranda – The Lady in the Tutti Frutti Hat
2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
Making the hats took longer than I thought – I had piles of hats everywhere making sure they worked and getting them into place. Piles and piles. Mountains of hats – everywhere. It was weeks before I wanted to even look at a hat again.
