Elysium Cabaret’s Taylor Swift Theme Show!

Oh WOW it was not only Friday night but it was the last Friday of the month, which means THEME SHOW! Tonight’s theme was the award-winning Taylor Swift. All songs by Taylor! What a heap of fun with some of the most talented and most dedicated performers on the grid. We all flocked to The Empire Room at Copperhead Road sim to share our love of music and dance with one another. It was a great night, in spite of SL giving us a bit of a hard time. Elysium Cabaret’s November 22nd 2019 Show

If it’s Friday, it’s Elysium Cabaret in The Empire Room at Copperhead Road. And it was FRIDAY! With Paul and Jilley as our hosts, DJ Gunner playing the tunes, and The Wiz wrangling backstage and audience details, not to mention the free shots and hors d’oeuvres, what more could you want for a fabulous evening of entertainment! What an amazing night of dance it was, with every choreographer going the extra mile except me! Amazing sets, dynamic choreography, tight mover work, particle magic, and very cool special effects… except for my set. If you saw this show, you saw some of the finest dancing in Second Life, and you also saw my set. *snorts* But let’s not make it all about me! Elysium Cabaret’s November 15th 2019 Show

What a great show we had tonight! Good friends, great energy, and some of the finest dancing on the grid. Jilley has returned from her adventures on the high seas. Looks like they didn’t make her walk the plank. She and Paul greeted arriving guests who flocked to THE place to be a on Friday night in Second Life, THE EMPIRE ROOM on Copperhead Road. We had great music from DJ Gunner, The Wiz keeping things orderly backstage, and me trying to come to and look productive. Oh wow, I jumped tense with that sentence. That is grammatically incorrect! Elysium Cabaret’s Show of November 8th 2019

It was a rough night, or at least it started that way. Jilley is out in the ocean, practising her pirating skills… oh I hope she brings me back a jar of dirt! Paul has moved uptown into a fancy new penthouse in RL, and was having internet issues with his new provider, and I was having all sorts of computer/viewer/rez issues. But suddenly Paul appeared, my viewer came good, my inventory loaded, Britt and Morganna were graciously welcoming arriving guests, DJ Gunner was warming up the audience with some rockin’ tunes, and Wiz was attending his Managerial responsibilities. I was pleased to learn he is taking his new position as Elysium’s Official Panty Checker seriously:

I think what made everything suddenly come good was Britt’s butt cleavage. As soon as I noticed it, everything came good. After such a rocky and rollin’ pre-show, the show itself ran very smoothly, with some absolutely brilliant acts! Take a look at some pics. If you missed it, you missed out. Elastic Heart – Sia
Wiz made me cry again with this one. Very powerful movement. This is pure Skan. “Skan enters the body with the spirit and sets new life in motion.”

Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
I recently heard Elastic Heart on The Voice and immediately remembered the video that came out just after Sia released it with Shia LaBeouf & Maddie Ziegler (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWZGAExj-es) dancing around in a large cage while wearing “flesh” colored outfits and thought I might be able to put an interesting spin on it. Adding the Sia wig sorta embodied both dancers. I added the Sia Wig treatment to the stage as well.

You know I lean toward covers whenever I can; they add extra dimensions and textures that maybe the original didn’t reach. I contemplated a number of covers, including Christina Grimmie’s version, but her story is sad on it’s own and thought it might affect the song’s story. I listened to the original again and that was all it took to come up with the final answer. I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Someone I once knew wrote/composed/recorded this song in his basement. He played all the instruments and sang. I have always thought it was exquisitely beautiful.

1. Why did you choose this song to create a dance to? What was your inspiration?
A friend of mine from long ago wrote/composed/recorded this song in his basement. He played all the instruments on it and sang it. It is really beautiful, and I have always wanted to dance to one of his original songs… I also wanted people to hear it, because he is so talented. People really love his music.

2. What were the particular challenges you dealt with when creating this dance?
I had to amp it a bit so that the SAM player didn’t drop out, it was a bit quiet in places. And me laying down and becoming part of the garden took some fiddling so that things matched up properly.

3. What does this dance mean to you? Is it a bit of fun, or is there a deeper meaning?
Very sentimental and personal. An expression of gratitude, hope and acceptance.

4. Is there anything you would like others to know about your dance?
The song is by some guy named Rick! Let us pray for a last name!
